Barcelona-based concierge agency Albert La Grup offers a glimpse into one of Barcelona’s hidden gems, Turó Park. Nestled in the popular Avenida Diagonal, Turó Park conceals a refined and quiet side of Barcelona – a piece of heaven in this varied city. Follow us as we uncover the wonders of this remarkable park.

What are the best ways to enjoy Barcelona in autumn?

Not only nature changes its colours with the seasons, in the colder months, cities change their appearance and rhythm. There is nothing like a leisurely afternoon stroll, a wander through the shops or enjoying a tasty snack in the park.

In the autumn months, Turó Park embraces the warm tones of its vegetation, while loud groups of children and families are replaced with quiet couples and solitary strollers who come to enjoy reading in this oasis of peace in the city.

What is so special about this little park?

Historically linked to the anxieties of modernity in the city, Turó Park will celebrate its centenary next year, 100 years since it opened as a tribute to the poet Eduardo Marquina. The mark of modernity can be seen in the sculptures that populate the park, honouring the most renowned artists of the time. Also worth a visit is the pond, with its turtles, water lilies and sometimes even beautiful cranes, all surrounded by poplars and plane trees.

This park and the surrounding neighbourhood, with its architecture of clear French influences, is one of the best kept secrets in Barcelona, a haven next to the busy Diagonal street, which is the gateway to one of the most chic areas of the city, traditional home of the Catalan bourgeoisie and, despite its tremendous discretion, a paradise for the latest trends in shopping and dining.

What places can you recommend to our readers that they should not miss as they wander through this area?

A classic establishment in this area is the chain of boutiques Jofre dating from 1929 that offers numerous brands, including Prada, Balenciaga and Vera Wang, and has six stores in the area. If relaxation is on your mind, Mesoestetic Lab Store is an ideal location revitaliza your face and body after a full afternoon of shopping. It is a refined design concept store and day spa by the homonymous pharmaceutical company. For jewellery lovers One Vintage is a must. Here you will find original pieces inspired by vintage and antique jewellery.

Coquette is a multi-brand store with bohemian spirit, which can be appreciated by its interior design: minimalist spaces dotted with vintage and industrial furnishings. Choose from a selection of Marni, See by Chloé and Isabel Marant. You should also discover the cobbler who conquered the world thanks to his popular flats – the Pretty Ballerinas that caused sensation among celebrities. Visit Mascaró to view the latest selection from this brand.

One last thing, what places would you recommend to entice the palate? After all, this is Barcelona!

L’Indret Semon summarizes the philosophy that has made Semon a reference in delicatessen and high-end bakery: discretion, exclusivity and elegance. You absolutely must try the Benfumat salmon.

The perfect place to enjoy fine cuisine, a Mediterranean menu and a casual atmosphere is Isabella’s. Their tapas are available at any time of day and can be accompanied by one of the great Catalan wines on their wine list.

As always, we save the best for last. Ferran Adrià’s most outstanding student, the chocolatier Oriol Balaguer, loves experimenting with contrasts in his creations. He has an amazing variety of sweets and chocolates that combine cocoa with ingredients such as roasted corn (‘kikos’), olive oil, pink pepper or wasabi.
